At Amazing Tutors, our Science and Biology Tutoring Program engages students in the study of life. Our experienced and qualified tutors work with students in subjects ranging from microbiology and physiology, to ecology and evolution. Our program is prepared to work with students from Elementary School to High School on the variety of subjects covered in their Science and Biology courses. We aim to make complex subjects accessible and exciting. We work with our students, guided by their unique learning styles and learning goals from the classroom, to improve their comprehension and foster a passion for learning and the natural world. Biology is a varied and fundamental scientific discipline, and we are eager to share our passion with our students. Students will learn study and test preparation skills focusing on scientific vocabulary, diagrams, while encouraging big picture understanding of complex systems. Some of the key Biological subjects our tutors are prepared to work with our students are as follows:
Students will learn how to design an experiment and interpret the results. This skill is applicable to not only academic inquiry but everyday life as well, as being able to identify reliable sources of information which is useful to professional and personal development.
Students will learn to make sense of the relationships between species. Understanding the principles of classification of living things engages students in the natural world and provides nuances to the complex subjects such as biodiversity, which are key to understanding climate change.
Students will learn to connect the microscopic nature of DNA to the overarching changes in speciation that have been observed over millennia. These subjects are fundamental to a basic understand of natural history and genetics.
Students will learn to combine their knowledge of statistics, taxonomy, evolution, and energy flow along with other disciplines, to understand the complex relationships between organisms. By connecting these subjects, students will have a greater understanding of the impacts of humans on ecosystems, and how living and nonliving factors influence the natural world we see today.
Students will learn about the structure and life cycle of viruses and bacteria. Did you know that there are approximately on million bacteria and ten million viruses in a single drop of seawater? Bacteria and viruses are found all around, and inside us, and are vital to understanding the basics of infectious disease and treatments.
Students will learn to identify and describe the structures of a cell and the different types of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids found in cells. We will also outline the processes that occur in cells that result in protein synthesis and DNA replication. These skills are needed to understand more complex systems such as metabolism and diseases, and will be applicable to any future inquiry into medicine.
Students will learn about the phyla of plants and animals and how to categorize them based on their characteristics. Understanding these characteristics requires knowledge of anatomy, life cycles, adaptations, reproduction, and physiology.
Students will understand the basic mechanisms behind the digestive system, circulatory system, respiratory system, nervous system, urinary system, reproductive system, and skeletal system. Through understanding these systems, students will come to learn how their own bodies function and how to keep themselves healthy. With the study skills gained on understanding these systems and how they interconnect, they will also be prepared to learn more about any medical fields they choose to pursue in the future.
